Kopapa - Review

Turkish Eggs and whipped yoghurt

Ricotto pancakes, with grapes, rocket, avocado and caramel

I love breakfast at any time of the day and any day of the week. Weekend breakfasts and the additional time to enjoy and think about what is being eaten is held by me and many in high esteem. This weekend breakfast at Kopapa was wonderful. It was everything a weekend breakfast should be.

Due to ordering indecision my friend and I ordered 3 breakfasts, one each and one to share. As you do. My 'main' breakfast was a chorizo hash with fried eggs, rocket, sriracha chilli sauce and crispy shallots. It was very good; hearty without being greasy, generous chunks of chorizo, which flavoured the potatoes very nicely although chorizo tends to do that to everything it touches. I particularly liked the chilli sauce and the hint of Tabasco, which gave a kick of additional flavour without the burn.

The shared breakfast of Ricotta fritters / pancakes with avocado and grape salad and pistachio caramel sauce was seriously sublime. I genuinely cannot stop thinking about them, The fritters had a beautiful lemony tang, they were light, fluffy and indulgent. The sauce was so good I chased it around the plate diligently. The salad made a perfect contrast cutting through the richness of the pancakes. The sweetness of the grapes working against the lemon, the avocado giving the whole dish a creamy freshness. I actually felt I was eating something wholly good for me.

My breakfast partner had Turkish style poached eggs, with whipped garlicky yoghurt, chilli butter and toast. I had a little taste and it was good. I was admittedly a bit full by then to muster much enthusiasm for another man's food but I got a pang of food envy despite this.

The service was amazing. I dropped my fork and it was replaced within seconds. My coat slipped off the back of the chair and the waiter put it back carefully so as not to disturb my gluttony. Despite how busy it was the food arrived promptly and at the same time and the staff were friendly, helpful and relaxed.

Excellent coffee.

If you have one breakfast and a coffee, it will be around £12.00. Recommended. And weekends you should book too, it gets very busy.
